Talent Acquisition Specialist
Job Description
Western Growers Group is seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist to manage the full recruiting lifecycle on site in Irvine. This role partners with hiring managers and executives to understand staffing needs, attract and screen candidates, and guide onboarding, all while focusing on a positive candidate experience and alignment with our strategic priorities.

Experience & Education
- BA/BS degree required
- Minimum experience: 3-5 years in recruiting, or 5-7 years in direct HR with emphasis on full-cycle recruitment (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Oversee assigned requisitions and candidate activity within the applicant tracking system
- Collaborate with hiring managers and executives to define staffing needs and ensure alignment with organizational priorities
- Review applications, conduct initial phone screens and interviews, administer assessments, and recommend hire or non-hire decisions
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies to attract qualified candidates, including proactive sourcing when passive search does not yield quality results
- Coordinate interview scheduling and candidate communications to support an exceptional candidate experience
- Handle pre-employment steps such as background checks, drug testing for select roles, reference checks, offers, and related documentation
- Manage internal transfers, including candidate screening, interview coordination, transfer letters, and communications
- Maintain recruitment reports, dashboards, and activity tracking to monitor hiring activity and KPIs
- Review recruitment controls, identify issues, and recommend improvements to support data-driven recruiting operations
- Partner with department managers to update job descriptions as positions evolve
- Ensure recruitment and onboarding comply with federal/state laws, fair hiring practices, I-9, and E-Verify
- Support onboarding and new-hire orientation, including first-day transitions and TA Generalist support
- Develop relationships with external vendors, post-secondary partners, and community organizations to meet staffing goals
- Collaborate with temporary staffing agencies to secure staff aligned with organizational needs
- Screen and assess temporary candidates to ensure alignment with role requirements
- Build and maintain relationships with temporary workers and hiring managers to support a positive experience
- Maintain the temporary staffing report for all active contractors
- Work with TA Generalist and Marketing to shape a strategic approach to employer branding
- Partner with the TA Generalist to optimize recruiting and onboarding processes through redesign and oversight
- Support recruiting projects on special business initiatives within Talent Acquisition and contribute resources to meet goals
- Collaborate on recruitment events with the TA Generalist (career fairs, online job fairs, community events) to attract quality candidates
- Follow up with candidates and hiring managers to obtain formal feedback on the recruiting process
- Collaborate with the talent acquisition team to improve existing processes or create new ones
- Foster long-term relationships with past applicants and potential candidates
- Contribute to the mission of enhancing member competitiveness and profitability through curiosity, planning, collaboration, and delivering results
- Maintain required technology and security standards including internet speed (40 Mbps download, 10 Mbps upload) and wired Ethernet
- Maintain a HIPAA-compliant workstation and employ security practices to protect confidential data
- Maintain and service safety equipment (smoke detector, fire extinguisher, first aid kit)
