Human Resources Administrator
Job Description
This onsite role in Gorham, Maine, supports Great Falls Construction’s recruiting, onboarding, and human resources programs. You will help drive workforce development, employee engagement, and essential HR administration to sustain a positive, high-performing workplace culture.
Responsibilities
- Assist with recruitment across field, skilled trade, administrative, and professional roles
- Represent the company at career fairs, school events, industry functions, and recruitment activities
- Engage with high schools, trade schools, colleges, and workforce development organizations
- Support internships, apprenticeships, mentorship programs, and broader workforce development efforts
- Aid onboarding, orientation, training coordination, and employee development initiatives
- Foster strong employee relationships to support retention and career growth
- Keep employee records, HRIS entries, certifications, training histories, and compliance documents current
- Assist with benefits administration, payroll-related tasks, certified payroll setup, and wage classifications
- Coordinate engagement activities such as recognition events, company gatherings, and social events
- Support managers with performance documentation and HR processes
- Monitor metrics related to workforce development, recruiting impact, and retention efforts
- Collaborate with HR, Safety, Operations, and Marketing on company initiatives and special projects
- Maintain confidentiality while supporting HR operations and employee relations
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 1 to 3 years of HR or administrative experience preferred
- Construction industry experience is a plus
- Basic understanding of employment laws and HR compliance
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR/timekeeping systems
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Professionalism and a high level of confidentiality
- Reliable, proactive, and solution-focused mindset
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
