Job Description
Independence Excavating, a family owned and operated company since 1956, is seeking a focused HR Coordinator to join our Brecksville, Ohio headquarters. This onsite position supports onboarding and pre-employment processes, guides new hires through orientation, and serves as the primary contact during pre-boarding to ensure a polished Day 1 experience.

Responsibilities
- Distribute offer letters, track responses, and follow up through acceptance
- Coordinate all pre-employment steps including background checks, drug screens, MVRs, and related clearances
- Maintain proactive communication with new hires during pre-boarding to ensure readiness for Day 1
- Schedule and lead new hire orientation sessions and manage onboarding logistics
- Facilitate the weekly internal new hire preparation meeting
- Coordinate OLBT training and corresponding onboarding timelines
- Prepare onboarding materials, welcome items, and new hire gifts
- Collaborate with HR, IT, Payroll, Operations, and hiring managers to ensure a seamless onboarding journey
- Maintain onboarding calendars, schedules, and status trackers
- Respond to routine questions from employees and candidates about onboarding
- Support miscellaneous HR administrative tasks, special projects, and team initiatives
- Assist with Training & Development programs and eLearning through the LMS
- Offer ideas to improve the new hire experience and onboarding efficiency
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- 1-3 years of HR generalist or related experience
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, facilitation, and communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office and experience with HRIS systems
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred but not required

Working Conditions

Physical Requirements
