Job Description
University of Maryland is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to support HR operations within the Business Support Services unit of the Division of Information Technology (DIT).
- Enter positions and job postings into the hiring system
- Draft, route, and file contracts and offer letters
- Run new employee orientation sessions for staff groups including regular exempt, regular non-exempt, Contingent 2, Contingent 1, and Graduate Assistants
- Track and manage hiring and on-boarding/off-boarding processes and timelines
- Coach managers through onboarding and offboarding activities
- Support managers and employees with guidance on navigating Workday
- Create, review, and update HR manuals, policies, and procedures
- Help ensure compliance with labor laws, University policies, and Divisional policies
- Generate and manipulate HR data for recurring HR reporting needs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- One (1) year of professional human resources experience
- Knowledge of HR policies and procedures, plus federal, state, and other applicable HR laws, rules, regulations, and ordinances
- Knowledge of best practices in organization, administration, and customer service
- Knowledge of proper protocol for handling confidential information
- Skill using Microsoft Office and Google Suite products
- Skill in analytical and strategic thinking
- Skill in oral and written communication
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to analyze situations and determine appropriate recourse
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining customer service commitment
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of HR regulations, policies, and procedures
- 1+ years of Workday HCM experience
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive personnel information with discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and/or Google Apps (Docs, Sheets and Slides)
- Proficiency in Adobe Sign

Compensation and Employment Type
- Salary range: USD 60,880 - 73,056 per year
