Human Resources Generalist
Job Description
Windigo Logistics seeks an experienced Human Resources Generalist for an onsite Denver, CO role with a salary range of USD 55,000 to 60,000 per year to oversee medical leaves, Job Duty Profiles (JDPs), attendance, investigations, and employee relations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee medical leaves from initial notification through return-to-work, ensuring compliance at every step.
- Serve as the primary HR contact for medical leave procedures, required documentation, deadlines, and return-to-work criteria.
- Track medical absences and provide timely information on available leave options.
- Coordinate with employees, supervisors, HR leadership, and third-party leave administrators on leave status and follow-up.
- Manage the Job Duty Profile process, distributing forms and instructions to employees and supervisors.
- Review completed JDP documentation and coordinate work restrictions, accommodations, and return-to-work requirements with HR leadership and operational management.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records related to medical leaves, JDPs, restrictions, certifications, and return-to-work documentation.
- Monitor leave usage, deadlines, and status to ensure timely follow-up and legal compliance.
- Confirm return-to-work documentation is complete before clearance is granted.
- Regularly review attendance records to identify patterns and potential policy violations.
- Verify absences against approved leave, PTO, call-outs, and other documentation before issuing discipline.
- Prepare attendance-related disciplinary actions accurately and within established timelines.
- Coordinate with supervisors to deliver attendance discipline consistently and promptly.
- Maintain attendance notes, discipline records, and supporting documentation securely.
- Respond to questions about attendance policies, occurrences, and disciplinary steps from employees and supervisors.
- Assist with attendance grievances, investigations, and disputes by gathering and reviewing relevant records.
- Ensure consistent application of attendance policies and progressive discipline procedures.
- Serve as a resource on workplace concerns, attendance matters, leave procedures, and HR policies.
- Assist in resolving employee relations issues through fact gathering and coordination with HR leadership.
- Provide guidance on company policies and workplace procedures to employees and supervisors.
- Support disciplinary meetings, coaching sessions, and other employee relations discussions.
- Conduct intake meetings related to employee complaints and workplace concerns.
- Gather relevant information including witness statements, attendance records, emails, and other supporting documentation.
- Conduct interviews with employees and witnesses regarding workplace incidents.
- Document investigation findings and prepare clear, factual summaries for review by HR leadership.
- Assist with disciplinary meetings and employee relations discussions arising from investigations.
- Maintain documentation related to medical leaves, JDPs, attendance, investigations, disciplinary actions, and compliance matters.
- Ensure employee records are complete, confidential, and filed appropriately.
- Assist with ensuring HR policies and procedures are followed consistently.
- Support HR leadership with compliance documentation, audits, and recordkeeping efforts.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable employment laws and company procedures related to leave, attendance, employee relations, and workplace investigations.
- Coordinate communication among employees, supervisors, operational management, leave administrators, and HR leadership.
- Assist with employee training and policy communication initiatives.
- Support HR projects and program implementations, providing back-up support for other HR functions as needed.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee, medical, and company information; exercise professional judgment on sensitive matters.
- Assist HR leadership with HR projects and ongoing initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of medical leave administration, attendance management, and progressive discipline.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS, attendance systems, and leave-tracking systems.
- Bilingual Spanish and English required.
- Minimum two years of relevant experience in human resources or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
