Human Resources Manager

The Art of Living Retreat Center seeks a seasoned Human Resources Manager to oversee all HR activities onsite at the Boone, North Carolina campus.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment and onboarding: supervise end-to-end hiring, onboarding, and orientation; partner with department leaders to determine staffing needs and attract mission-aligned candidates.
• Employee relations: nurture a respectful, open work environment through conflict resolution, coaching, and ongoing communication; act as a trusted HR advisor for staff and leadership.
• Policy and compliance: keep HR policies current and compliant with federal, state, and local laws; manage employee records with confidentiality and data integrity.
• Performance management: design and oversee performance review processes; assist leadership in identifying development needs and implementing growth plans.
• Compensation and benefits: administer benefits programs and advise on compensation strategies; assess wellness incentives aligned with the Center's values.
• Culture and engagement: foster a positive, inclusive, and conscious workplace culture; coordinate team-building and staff wellness activities aligned with the Center's mission.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (HR certification preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a management or leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Proficiency in HRIS systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work on-site at the retreat center in Boone, NC.
