Job Description
This on-site, Salt Lake City based HR leadership role offers a benefits-forward, hands-on path for shaping people operations in a 100–120-person, non-union manufacturing environment within an ITAR-regulated setting. The position sits on a full-time schedule with a compensation range of $60,000 to $70,000 per year, and a benefits package designed to support you and the team on the floor.
Benefits
- 401(k) matching
- Employee discount
- Health insurance
- Health savings account
Responsibilities
- Payroll: Manage end-to-end payroll in Gusto with high accuracy, covering time capture, approvals, multi-rate and overtime calculations, deductions, garnishments, PTO accruals, tax filings, and GL reconciliation.
- Benefits: Administer health, dental, vision, 401(k), and leave programs; oversee open enrollment, qualifying life events, COBRA, and carrier coordination through Gusto.
- Talent: Own full-cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried roles—from sourcing and screening to interviews, offers, background checks, and onboarding to meet production demand.
- Employee Relations: Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions, resolve conflicts, conduct investigations, handle disciplinary actions and performance issues; coach supervisors on direct, fair leadership.
- Compliance: Maintain compliance with FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, workers’ comp, and Utah labor law; manage I-9/E-Verify, ITAR personnel screening support, and maintain audit-ready records.
- Operations: Handle onboarding and offboarding, job descriptions, the employee handbook, policies, and HRIS data integrity; produce clear metrics on headcount, turnover, attendance, and time-to-fill.
- Partnership: Collaborate with the COO/CFO and floor supervisors to translate workforce needs into staffing, training, and retention actions that protect throughput and quality.
Requirements
- Foundation: 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience with hands-on payroll administration; Gusto experience strongly preferred.
- Breadth: Demonstrated depth across benefits administration, full-cycle recruiting, employee relations, and HR compliance, able to handle all four end-to-end without a supporting HR team.
- Compliance: Practical knowledge of federal and Utah employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA) and comfort operating in a regulated, security-sensitive environment.
- Systems: Proficiency with HRIS/payroll platforms, time-and-attendance systems, and Microsoft 365 with strong reporting capabilities.
- Environment: Manufacturing, industrial, or hourly-workforce experience strongly preferred; ITAR/ATF-regulated exposure a clear plus.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or a related field; PHR or SHRM-CP certification welcomed.
