Job Description

Marine Corps Community Services in Beaufort, South Carolina is seeking an on-site Human Resources Technician NF3 to deliver comprehensive HR support for Marines, sailors, and their families. This role encompasses recruitment assistance, benefits administration, records management, and coordinating new-hire orientation, with a strong emphasis on responsive customer service, safety, and program compliance. The position offers an hourly wage of $24 to $26 and requires a minimum of three years of HR generalist experience, with a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business management, or a closely related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops job vacancy announcements and represents MCCS at recruiting events.
  • Reviews applications and assesses eligibility or qualifications per established policies.
  • Supports the administration of the employee benefits program, including health, dental, life, 401(k), group retirement, workers' compensation, FMLA, leave donations, and the Employee Performance Awards Program.
  • Maintains accurate records to support employee and benefits processes.
  • Maintains regular contact with employees and supervisors; provides guidance on policies, benefits, compensation, and related programs.
  • Researches and explains complex benefits topics, such as health benefits conversions, annuity calculations, and creditable service.
  • Conducts new-hire orientation sessions, briefings, and seminars.
  • Delivers high-quality customer service with a courteous approach; interacts positively with customers.
  • Acknowledges customers, maintains eye contact, and asks clarifying questions to resolve issues.
  • Assesses satisfaction with services and takes prompt action to resolve problems; escalates as needed.
  • Adheres to safety regulations and uses required safety equipment; reports hazards, injuries, and property damage.
  • Supports equal employment opportunity principles and prevention of sexual harassment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of HR generalist experience across functions such as talent acquisition, benefits administration, data entry, and new-hire orientation.
  • Knowledge of employment law and HRIS database maintenance.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute complex personnel operations.
  • Excellent customer service and computer skills.
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business management, or a closely related field is highly preferred.
  • This is a white-collar position with potential occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Military Spouse Preference Program (MSP)

For postings with a grade of NF01 – NF03, GSE02 – GSE05 (childcare), NA03, and NA10 (crafts & trades), MSP applicants must attach the active-duty spouse's orders to the application. Orders must include the applicant's name and the spouse's assignment to MCRD Parris Island, MCAS Beaufort, or Naval Hospital Beaufort. MSP applicants must meet the minimum requirements for the position and may use spouse preference only once per rotation for regular part-time or regular full-time positions.
