Job Description

UNC Asheville, a public university located in Asheville, North Carolina, seeks a Director of Talent Acquisition to steer the design and management of proactive recruitment and onboarding initiatives. This onsite role collaborates with hiring managers and campus leaders to shape long-term workforce planning and deliver an inclusive recruitment lifecycle. The position offers a salary range of USD 85,000 to 90,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the creation and governance of innovative talent acquisition programs that enhance recruitment and onboarding across the university.
  • Guides long-range workforce planning and recruitment strategies to ensure an efficient, effective, and inclusive lifecycle.
  • Develops and evaluates programs for sourcing, recruiting, hiring, and onboarding talent.
  • Engages potential candidates through social media, professional networks, recruiting events, and strategic sourcing channels.
  • Forges strong partnerships with hiring managers and campus leaders to align recruitment plans with departmental needs.
  • Acts as the primary contact for the end-to-end recruitment process from requisition creation to onboarding.
  • Advises managers on systems, processes, and procedures; coordinates advertising strategies; manages job postings and timelines; supports screening and candidate selection; guides search committee composition and interview processes; and assists with final candidate selection.
  • Creates, delivers, and maintains search committee training for all staff positions, ensuring understanding of employment practices, Equal Employment Opportunity standards, and relevant UNC System and NC OSHR regulations.
  • Monitors processes and applicant pools, guiding search chairs to support fair, equitable, and inclusive hiring.
  • Oversees all staff onboarding procedures to provide a welcoming and consistent experience for new employees.
  • Leads and develops team members through coaching, feedback, and professional development to sustain an engaged, high-performing team.
  • Demonstrates adaptability, strong organizational skills, creativity, and deadline-driven execution; leads large-scale recruiting initiatives by developing solutions, guiding implementation, and managing change.
  • Reviews and updates policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state law.
  • Exercises independent judgment to set goals, establish timelines, and identify opportunities for improvement; contributes to broader Office of Human Resources projects that support the university mission and strategic plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least three years of progressively responsible experience applying HR best practices in alignment with organizational goals; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
