Job Description

Henkels & McCoy is hiring a Human Resource Coordinator to support HR operations across the West Region from our Sacramento, CA location. In this onsite role, you’ll help keep hiring and onboarding running smoothly for craft and professional employees, manage key employee documentation, and serve as a go-to partner for day-to-day HR support, compliance, and leaves.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead new hire orientation for craft and professional employees across the West Region.
  • Manage and facilitate high-volume onboarding, regularly onboarding classes of 20+ employees while maintaining a positive and compliant onboarding experience.
  • Prepare and distribute onboarding materials and new hire documentation.
  • Coordinate onboarding requirements including background checks, drug screens, and employment verifications.
  • Process hires in iCIMS, UKG, and JD Edwards and communicate with all applicable stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely completion of onboarding milestones, compliance documentation, and HRIS entries for large hiring groups.
  • Travel to regional sites for orientations and HR training.

Leaves of Absence Support

  • Act as the primary contact for FMLA, CFRA, disability, workers’ comp, and personal leaves.
  • Provide required forms, track leave timelines, and manage return-to-work processes.
  • Update HR systems and communicate status changes to managers and payroll.

Compliance and Employee Documentation

  • Manage I-9 verification and retention for all new hires.
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance with client I-9 requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee files.
  • Manage required postings for all regional sites.

HR and Administrative Support

  • Process W-4 updates, personnel change forms, address changes, transfers, and step increases.
  • Handle WRHR inbox inquiries and employee requests.
  • Coordinate contingent worker setup and assignment management with internal teams.

What You Bring

  • Detail-oriented and people-focused.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and protect sensitive employee information.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and HRIS systems ( iCIMS, UKG, JDE preferred ).
  • Strong written and verbal communication, time management, and attention to detail.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift at least 20 lbs.

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business, or equivalent experience.
  • 2–4 years of progressive experience in human resources or business operations.
  • Proven experience leading high-volume onboarding with 20+ craft and professional hires per cycle, session, or hiring wave, including compliance, documentation, HRIS entry, and stakeholder communication.
  • Experience in field-based environments such as construction, utilities, industrial, or manufacturing is preferred.
  • SHRM-CP preferred.

Location and Travel

Sacramento, CA (onsite). Regional travel is required for orientations and training.

Compensation

$25.19–$37.79 hourly / DOE.
