Hybrid, part-time Administrative Assistant opportunity in Berkeley with a fast-moving team in the tree care industry. This role splits time between outbound sales calling and estimates follow-up and hands-on training to transition into recruiting. Youβll report to the Chief People & Strategy Officer and support client outreach, candidate sourcing, and hiring workflow using modern people-ops tools.
Compensation: $24.00 to $36.00 per hour (overtime is 1.5 times the base rate and requires advance approval). Schedule: Part-time (20 hours per week), working 4 days x five (5) hours from Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. In Q3, and if budget allows, weekly hours may increase to 30 or 40. The environment is casual and relaxed, located near Berkeley Bowl West.
What youβll do
- Split your time between making outbound sales calls and learning to become a recruiter.
- Support the Client Services Manager by contacting clients to confirm theyβve received written estimates.
- Follow up with clients who have not yet accepted a project bid, then send a post-project email survey to help confirm satisfaction and likelihood to recommend the company.
- Use the company ATS (Applicant Tracking System) to find strong matches for open positions and support candidate outreach.
- Send surveys, interpret survey results, schedule and hold phone interviews, and pass top candidates forward for review.
- Document hiring outcomes in CRM.
- Use your software and AI experience to help optimize or automate the current ATS so it sends text communication.
- Track performance by meeting weekly targets for calls and candidate pipeline activities.
- Write and edit clear, concise templates for emails, job ads, call scripts, interview questions, and candidate communications.
- Learn and support the hiring and onboarding workflow, including reviewing candidates, screening, coordinating on-site interviews, and helping move candidates through next steps.
- Occasionally run local errands, deliver or pick up materials, and take job-site photos.
Errands logistics: Candidates must provide their own transportation. Errands within the Berkeley area are reimbursed.
What you bring
- Associate or bachelorβs degree plus excellent written communication and editing skills.
- Fast and efficient typing.
- An outgoing, extroverted approach, with comfort making high-volume outbound phone calls and handling rejection professionally.
- Ability to spend roughly 5 hours per day on outbound calls.
- Reliable personal transportation and willingness to run errands in the Berkeley area.
- Residence within a 40-minute commute of Berkeley, CA.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to multitask across sales and recruiting priorities.

Benefits
- Hourly pay at $24.00/hr, with overtime at 1.5x base rate ($36.00/hr) approved in advance.
